2-channel HD video projection, colour, no sound, 10mins, looped

The Weight and the Silence is an exploration of space with and through a lens, both in the abstraction of the real space of the video’s location and in the communication and understanding of space through the experience of the viewer.

The background, a full 360degree panoramic photograph of a winter woodland, slowly slides across the projection screens. On top of this, short video clips, shot around the same woodland, fade in and out – their floating movement dictated by the movement of the video-camera lens.

It is the relationship between these various images that create the viewers experience; a subtle and incoherent virtual vision of reality.
